New Leaf

I haven't posted anything in a while and I thought today was the perfect day to start up again. These past few months have definitely been full of changes and they've kept me crazy busy. I have a new part-time job, a new hair cut, and I've decided it's high time I revamped my blog. When I started blogging it was definitely much more rounded and lifestyle-like, but as I spent more time online looking at other blogs and connecting with other bloggers, it slowly became a writer blog. I want to switch things up and go back to lifestyle blogging. Writing isn't all I do in life and so it makes sense to incorporate other things I love too. I have a vast mixture of likes and dislikes and so I'd like to incorporate them into this blog. I will blog about foods, books I'm reading, anything to do with writing, beauty, healthy living, and really anything else I feel like. I want to incorporate everything and not just focus on one aspect of my life. I think a great way to start this is to include some random facts. I've decided to do 20. If you'd like to comment with 20 facts about yourself, I'd love to read them.

1. I love quotes for all occasions. There's just something about a quote that goes with a certain situation that really resonates with me.

2. I love to travel. I get very antsy and feel the need to go somewhere if I haven't been travelling in a while.

3. I love cats. I will for sure be a cat lady when I'm elderly.

4. I'm obsessed with the show New Girl. Zooey Deschannel is fantastic and I love her, no matter what people say.

5. I'm a little obsessed with Pinterest at the moment. I definitely need to take a step back and get off it for a while.

6. My room is an absolute mess. I love having a neat and organized room, but it never seems to be that way, no matter how hard I try. I just pray that when I have my own place it'll be neater.

7. My goal is to be in Toronto in 3 years. I don't want to live in my hometown. It's not that it's a bad place, it's just not a place where I want to spend the rest of my life.

8. I've never had a date on Valentine's Day. This may seem a little late in coming since Valentine's was on Thursday, but it is a random fact.

9. I love Zelda. It's fantastic and epic and I love that the franchise is continually being added to.

10. I love anything Middle Earth. Tolkien is one of my favourite authors and anything to do with him I love.

11. I have an orchid. I nearly killed it, but I've managed to revive it by watering it slightly more than I was previously.

12. New York City is one of my favourite places to travel to. I've been twice already and it always has more to offer.

13. I love classical music and movie scores. There's something in the complexity that is so incredible and entrancing.

14. I'm trying to expand my fashion horizons. I've been wearing the same types of clothes all my life and I think it's time I try new things. Cue closet clean out!

15. I love art. I like to think that if I hadn't gone into English I would have gone into art history. Studying art history was one of my favourite things in high school.

16. I'm rubbish at speaking to people I don't know. If I'm at work it's fine because I know I'll probably never see those people again, but if I have to talk to someone in my class, it's not happening.

17. I hate doing in-class presentations. I am the absolute worst at them. I get all panicky and speak either really quickly or really quietly and it gets hard for me to breathe.

18. I hate that people assume I'm going into teaching because I'm an English student. I want to go into publishing. I can't explain anything and I hate presentations, so why would I want a job that combines both of those and includes extremely judgemental students?

19. I have a younger brother. We're best friend. 'Nuff said.

20. I believe in magic. And if you don't, then enjoy a boring unmagical life.

Quote of the day: Books have a unique way of stopping time in a particular moment and saying: Let's not forget this. - Dave Eggers

P.S. Since Emily hasn't responded to accept her prize of The Hobbit I'm going to give it to the first person who comments on this post with their email address. I don't need another copy hanging around when I already have my own.
