Google Reader No More

Hello everyone! In case you weren't aware, I just wanted to tell you all that Google Reader will be shutting down tomorrow. If you want to continue following this blog, I suggest you switch over to Bloglovin. It's so easy to transfer over, it literally takes less than five minutes.

See you all on the other side!

For those of you read my last post about a disturbing project that had been created on Kickstarter, I just wanted to share some amazing news for you. We have won! Kickstarter has issued an apology (which you can read here) stating that they were wrong. They have also stated that they will be donating $25 000 to RAINN, which is an anti-sexual violence organization. The only bad news that I have to report is that the creator of the project on Kickstarter, Ken Hoinsky, has already received the over $16 000 in funding from the over 700 backers. But, as I said, this is still a victory. Kickstarter has discovered their mistake and don't plan on making it in the future. If any of you helped spread the word and reported the project, thank you. Everyone who brought Kickstarter's attention to what the content was and what the guide was truly about was immensely helpful.

I hope this never happens again, and if it does, the correct action is taken against it.

An Inconceivable Project

Today I have decided to do a very serious post, something I haven't done before. I think that this issue is very serious and affects all of us, not just the women of the world. Ken Hoinsky has set up a project on Kickstarter in order to fund a book that is essentially a how-to guide for sexual assault of women. This is positively disgusting and horrible. I cannot understand how someone would want to publish that, let alone why the people at Kickstarter would allow this project to get started. And the cherry on top? People are actually funding this. That's right. There are people out in the world who are actually helping to fund the publication of this guide. Unfortunately, the end date for financing the project was yesterday, but there is still hope! Hopefully if enough people make others aware of this project and its content, then it will be shut down and Hoinsky will be unable to publish. There were 732 backers and despite there being only a goal of raising $2000, an astonishing $16369 was raised. Not only am I absolutely shocked and appalled that someone would want to publish this, but I am flabbergasted that 732 people were willing to provide this man with $16369 dollars in order to do so!

Hoinsky has been publishing posts on Reddit and this guide (I will never refer to it as a book again, it is not worthy of being called thus) will be a compilation of those posts, as well as other content that has yet to be published. He plans on having this published and out by July. Hopefully this will never, ever happen. I am sincerely hoping that there is no publishing house on this planet that would be willing to publish this guide.

The content that he is including is absolutely disgusting.

"5) Get CLOSE to her, damn it!
To quote Rob Judge, "Personal space is for pussies." I already told you that the most successful seducers are those who can't keep their hands off of women. Well you're not gonna be able to do that if you aren't in close!
“All the greatest seducers in history could not keep their hands off of women. They aggressively escalated physically with every woman they were flirting with. They began touching them immediately, kept great body language and eye contact, and were shameless in their physicality. Even when a girl rejects your advances, she KNOWS that you desire her. That’s hot. It arouses her physically and psychologically.”

“Decide that you’re going to sit in a position where you can rub her leg and back. Physically pick her up and sit her on your lap. Don’t ask for permission. Be dominant. Force her to rebuff your advances.”
Pull out your cock and put her hand on it. Remember, she is letting you do this because you have established yourself as a LEADER. Don’t ask for permission, GRAB HER HAND, and put it right on your dick.”

This guy seems to be a typical nerd who had troubles getting the attention of girls, which everyone struggles with. But the difference is that he seems to be using the fact that his first three girlfriends cheated and dumped him for someone else as an excuse to create a guide on sexual assault. Let me say this right now to any guy reading this: no girl wants someone to assault them. No guy would ever want someone to assault them. Believe it or not, girls like a nice guy, not someone who attempts to dominate them and end up getting raped. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying or there is something wrong there.

There is something seriously wrong with the fact that this man wants to publish something like this, that he is obtaining quite a large sum from people to publish this, and that the people at Kickstarter have allowed this to become a project on their website.

Please help this not become a reality. This project needs to be stopped as soon as possible. You can report the project at the bottom of this page. Alas, there was a petition on but it has been closed so that they can take it down to Kickstarter to show them. On Kickstarter's Terms of Use page it specifically says that no project will be "abusive", "threatening" or "offensive" and this project clearly violates these Terms of Use. Please, when you report the project type this in.

Apparently, Kickstarter also told a news source that this petition won't be enough to halt the project and take it down. If all of you readers could be so kind as to go to Kickstarter and report the project (the link is above) it will be an immense help.

Getting Fit

In my last post I mentioned how I'm trying to get fit by going to the gym and doing exercises. Today's post I want to elaborate a bit on that. When I go to the gym I like to divide up my time, 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength (aka weight machines). I find Pinterest has been a great motivator for getting healthy. I have a board strictly for exercises and healthy snacks/foods/drinks called Health. Creative, I know.

Recently, while looking up exercise pins, I discovered pins from the website Blogilates. It's an awesome website with exercise plans and healthy food posts. Cassey also has a Youtube channel here. The videos are really helpful and enjoyable. I seriously enjoyed the Psy Gentleman video. Here it is for your enjoyment. I think it's absolutely hilarious. Cassey is one of those people who just really makes you want to workout and have fun! There are tons of videos to check out, so if you want to get fit too, or simply add to whatever you're doing, I definitely recommend checking out her videos.

Along with cardio and strength, I also really enjoy doing yoga. It's a great way to work your muscles, stretch, and calm your mind all at the same time. I find the different instructors at my gym to be really helpful and they can help you with your movements if you need it. They're all about making it comfortable for you because it's no fun to do yoga, or any exercise, when you're in pain. You just have to make sure what you're doing isn't injuring your body.

If you have any suggestions or comments, let me know. I'd love to hear what you guys are doing to be healthy.

Hello everyone! I know it has been quite a while since I've blogged. I could blame it on exams (which are long done) and work, but let's be honest, I'm a procrastinator and Pinterest is kind of distracting. I just wanted to let you all know what I've been up to. I've been reading books for the Goodreads 2013 Reading Challenge, you can check out my page here. I also started going to the gym in May and hope to continue getting healthy and fit throughout the summer and the rest of the year. I don't want to be a seasonal exerciser, which is bad, so I'm trying to get back into the habit of doing exercises both at the gym and at home. I plan on doing some posts on what I'm doing to get healthy and I would really appreciate it if any of you had questions, suggestions, or comments. I also think I'll be doing some 'beauty' posts. Think product reviews, DIY masks, routines, etc. And possibly some fashion posts will be thrown into the mix as well.

Let me know what you think about this plan. I really appreciate any feedback you guys have to offer :)
